The New (x63) Line In The Sand

April 2, 2009

line-in-the-sandThe Federal Liberals are supposedly willing to stand up to the Conservatives over scrapping the long-arms gun registry.

Right. Huh Uh.

If the Liberals weren’t going to stand up to the Conservatives and possibly fight an election over a “$3 billion slush fund” when they had the auditor-general and potentially most Canadians of their side, or fight against a budget that doesn’t help people in these bad times, then they aren’t going to fight an election on a relatively unimportant issue which a sizable portion of Canadians support the Conservatives on.

If the Liberals want to be taken seriously, then they shouldn’t deliver threats that they won’t deliver.

Who said anything about fighting an election? The past 2 attempts at killing the gun registry were not non-confidence votes.. and whoever heard of a government threatening an election over a bill introduced into the Senate and being voted on there first??

I know you NDP’ers like to find reasons to go after the Liberals, and you’ve had some instances where you had valid reasons, but I think on this issue, this isn’t one of them.
