“This Budget Is Flawed, But We’re Going To Accept It Nearly Unchanged Anyway” – Liberals

January 28, 2009

From a Liberal e-mail update sent today, in their own words:

But, the budget is also flawed in significant ways:

  • it doesn’t go far enough to protect Canadians who have – or will soon – lose their jobs;
  • it opens the door for attacks on pay equity for women;
  • it breaks the Conservatives` promise to all Canadian provinces on equalization;
  • it missed the opportunity for significant stimulus investment towards the green economy;
  • it lacks clear plan for getting us out of the $85 billion hole the government will dig us into over the next five years.

It’s too bad that the only thing that the Liberals can do about this flawed budget is to demand frequent progress reports.

Oh, wait.

It didn’t even take 24 hours for the Liberals to start insulting the intelligence of Canadians.

    Bingo! And now Diane Finley has explained why the Budget has no provisions to deal with those who will lose their jobs … they don’ want collecting EI Benefits while sitting at home to be ‘lucrative’! This is the Budget that Iggy and the Libs are supporting … !
