2007 Canadian Blog Awards

December 13, 2007

I am sure by now that many Canadian Bloggers are wondering what happened to the Canadian Blog Awards for 2007. Are they still happening or not?

That’s why I’m pleased to announce the opening of nominations for the 2007 Canadian Blog Awards. This year, the awards are being operated by a group of diverse bloggers, such as Saskboy of Abandoned Stuff, Stephen Taylor, Dani of Postcards from the Mothership, Jason Cherniak, myself, and various other blogging volunteers.

There are 26 categories for a blog to be nominated in this year, so things should be interesting for all Canadian Bloggers this year, not just the political ones. Be sure to spread the word to all those that might be interested.

The nomination period ends January 11th, 2008.

Update 12/13/2006 9:51 PM:

Saskboy’s released his post on the Canadian Blog Awards.

Update 12/14/2006 10:07 AMย

For getting this posted before I did, I think you’re going to get a nomination for best Citizen ๐Ÿ™‚

Would you guys mind clarifying what the range of dates are within which we can nominate individual posts? Thanks!

  3. December 13, 2007 at 9:21 pm

Kudos to those behind the scenes who have done the heavy lifting to make it happen. Frankly, the cross section of individuals involved this year is a bit amazing considering some of the ….. minor bumps …. that have happened in past.

Bravo … we’ve got a pretty nice cross section of Canadian political bloggers as volunteers ….. and that is a good omen of these awards being well received!

    Idealistic Pragmatist,

    Good Point. We missed that.

    The last blog awards ended, I believe, around the 29th of November, 2006, so let’s say November 30thDecember 1st 2006-December 31st 2007.

  5. December 13, 2007 at 9:31 pm

IP the range of time eligible will be December 1, 2006, through December 31, 2007 11:59 PST.

  6. December 13, 2007 at 9:32 pm

Scratch my comment, we’ll go with NBCD’s Nov 30, 2006 start time.

Actually, it states on the website Dec 1st, so we might as well stick with it.

  8. December 13, 2007 at 9:46 pm

If someone posted at Nov 30 2006 11:59.59 they are out of luck! ๐Ÿ˜€

If anyone else has comments or criticism, this is as good a place as any to mention it. I think I’ll start a discussion page on the CBA site though, because we’re going to discourage anything beside nomination links in the category nomination pages.

That means that there will be a couple of weeks of posts that weren’t eligible last year and are also not eligible this year. Kind of sad, no?

  11. December 13, 2007 at 10:18 pm

How many weeks IP? I tend to agree, so if you give us a precise start time, there’s still time in this nomination period for us to adjust our policy.

2 Weeks or so. 1 week for each round, 2 rounds. We’d be talking around November 15th 2006 then.

  13. December 13, 2007 at 10:39 pm

I don’t remember exactly how many weeks, but I know I have a couple of November posts that I’ve been saving for this year because they were written right after the nominations deadline closed last year.

(On a mental list, I mean. I don’t mean that they’re all my own posts. ๐Ÿ™‚
